Open Mind Africa - Ghana

Open Mind Africa Ghana office is responsible for execution and implementation of OMA programs and services in our partner schools across Ghana. The location of our headquarters is at Sunyani, which is the capital of the Brong Ahafo Region. Our local team will continue to expand following the development of our programs in schools across Brong Ahafo Region and the rest of the country.

  • Vida Adams - Finance Director

    Vida Adams is the Finance Director for Open Mind Africa, and she is responsible for all Financial activities such as financial planning, bookkeeping, as well as reporting of financial statements for management.
    She has been working with the Controller and Accountant General's Department of Ghana as an Accountant for the past ten years. As part of her responsibilities, she implemented and managed World Bank-funded projects in the north of Ghana under the "Ghana Social Opportunity Project" (GSOP). She handled the accounts for the European Union and Japanese-funded projects ( EU & JICA). Vida handled the accounts of a project called "Worst Form of Child Labour," which aimed to reduce child labor. She was also in charge of the District Assembly Common Fund allocation from the central government for developmental projects in the districts. Furthermore, Vida Adams has been in charge of Ghana HIV/AIDS accounts in most of the District Assemblies she has worked within since she joined the department.
    Vida holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (B-Com) as well as Master of Business Administration in General Management from University of Cape Coast, Ghana. She's currently a student of Institute of Chartered Accountant Ghana. (ICA)
  • Barry Olichey - St. James Seminary Senior High School

    Olichey Barry is the on-campus SEL coach for Open Mind Africa at St. James Seminary Senior High School. Barry is a tutor at St. James Seminary Senior High School, he had his primary and junior secondary education at OListar preparatory school and completed in 1997. He went on to study at Sunyani Senior High and finished in the year 2000, He then went further to study at Accra College of Education. Barry also took a short course in basic education at Ghana Institute of Journalism in 2007 and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Education - Winneba in 2013.
  • Charles Luanga - Notre Dame Girls Senior High School

    Charles Luanga Siewobr is the on-campus SEL coach for Open Mind Africa at Notre Dame Girls Senior High School. Charles is a professional teacher, teaches Economics at Notre Dame Girls Senior High School, Fiapre-Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.
    Prior to this, Charles Lwanga had worked as the Office Manager/ Programme Analyst of the Institute of Teacher Education and Development (INTED), an NGO which is into providing professional development training programs for teachers of second cycle educational institutions in Ghana. Before joining INTED, He had taught Economics at Holy Family Senior High School and Nandom Senior High School [both in the Upper West Region]. He had also taught in Economics and English language at Lawrence Senior High School in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo Regional capital.
    Charles Lwanga Siewobr attended St. Francis Xavier Junior Seminary, Wa, in the Upper West Region, where he obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. From there, he proceeded to the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, where he earned an enviable First Class Honours Bachelor of Education degree in Economics and Geography [Economics Major].
  • Ahaja Nathaniel

    Ahaja Nathaniel is the on-campus SEL coach for Open Mind Africa at Sunyani Senior High School.
    The students popularly know Nathaniel, as Nat. Nathaniel is a mathematics tutor in Sunyani Senior High School in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. Nathaniel grew up in a small town called Akutreso in Adansi District of Ashanti Region. He had his Basic Education at Akutreso and proceeded to New Edubiase Senior High School in1993. Nathaniel was certified as a professional teacher in 2003 to teach in basic schools. Nathaniel taught in basic schools for four years before he proceeded to the University of Cape Coast to further his education, and graduated with a second-class upper division in mathematics. Nathaniel is currently pursuing his MPhil in Applied Mathematics at the University of Energy and Natural Resources. At his current job, Nathaniel is also the Housemaster of Boahen Korkor house in Sunyani Senior High School. Nathaniel is married with three kids.
